The Basics - How does Speed Dating work? |
| |
Speed dating is very simple.
The idea is for you to go on a series of short dates (e.g. 5 minutes), so the odds are that you'll meet someone where there is a mutual attraction! Each date is quite short (e.g. 5 mins) but enough time to figure out if you are attracted to your date or not!
At the end of each date, the men move on to the next table and meet their next date. Everyone will have a "match card" in which you keep track of who you have met, and for each date you simply mark the form with a “yes” or a “no” if you were attracted to that person!
At the end of the night, you return this card to your host. We then look for matches - where both you and your date marked “yes” for each other. In that case, both of you will receiev each other's contact details (by email or SMS) - easy!
After that it’s up to you!

What happens when I arrive at the start of the night? |
| |
When you arrive, you will be greeted by your friendly host. You will be given your ""match card", and your name tag (first name only) and a pen. You can then go and relax, mingle and get a drink at bar if you like.
The speed dating will kick off once everyone is registered and ready to go! Your host will give quick instructions to everyone on how the night will run and where they are to start, and before you know it you will be in the middle of your first date! It's all very simple, you'll see! Your friendly host will be there to help you along the way should you need anything.

 |
What happens at the end of the night? |
| |
You return your "match card" to your host (the match card is where you have marked who you were attracted to).
You are welcome to stay on after the speed dating - the tunes will carry on in the top floor of Buskers, and you can mix and mingle with everyone you have met on the night!
In the next 48 hours we will then go through all the match cards and see who your matches are. We will then email (or SMS) you the contact details of your matches!
|
 |
How long do I talk to each date? |
| |
This varies from event to event, so please read the details of the event you are thinking of attending - there will be a description of how you will meet each date. Too short? Too long? You’ll find out for yourself!
|
 |
What age limit applies? |
| |
Different age ranges apply for different nights. Please check the age range for the next night. See also the T&C for rules on age limits for our events.
|
 |
I am outside the age range - can I participate? |
| |
Yes, we do allow a small leeway for most event - please see our T&C regarding age limits. We may run other events for people outside the age range of our events currently listed. If you would be interested in this, please let us know – send us a quick note on the via the Contact Us page.
|
 |
What contact details do you give to other people? |
| |
We only give your contact details to your matches - where both of you have indicated that you would like your details to be passed on.
You can specify your phone number or your email address, whichever you prefer, as provided by you on the night.
We also do not reveal to anyone any preferences, such as who you marked, apart from when there is a match.
So your details won't be seen by anyone other than your matches!

 |
What is the success rate of Speed Dating? |
| |
Speed dating has a successful track record. Typically events have a strike rate of between 2 and 3 matches (per person), although it is not uncommon to sometimes get a few more!
|
 |
What are good topics to talk about? |
